Art at Argo’s: Leslie Laufman’s Paintings benefitting CityMusic

Blooms and Blossoms, our latest Art at Argo’s exhibit will arrive July 8th to the showroom. The works are by local artist, Leslie Laufman and the mood is dream worthy florals – soft and ethereal. Leslie was introduced to us by way of an Argo & Lehne customer and we can’t be more thrilled by the introduction. Not only are her paintings breathtaking but so is her dedication to our community through the music and education of local non-profit, CityMusic Columbus. For every painting sold a portion of the proceeds will benefit CityMusic.

Art at Argo’s: Jeffrey Knick
We are eager to introduce Jeffrey Knick to our Argo community. Jeffrey, a landscape & architectural painter, found us through word of mouth and we are so pleased. Immediately taken by his work, we collaborated ideas and Jeffrey landed on a remarkable exhibit encompassing scenes and iconic landmarks from the Columbus area. We love seeing these everyday locales brought to life in his highly detailed pen and watercolor paintings in his Art at Argo’s exhibit, “Steeped: An Artist’s Love for Columbus”.

What better time than Valentine’s Day to begin our new and rose inspired exhibit, “Flourish”?! We couldn’t be more proud of our very own, Design Liaison & Sales Associate, Sarah Peters. Sarah began working at Argo & Lehne in May of last year. She was a great fit with her gentle and kind nature matched with her love of fashion and jewelry. It’s no surprise she was drawn to many of our one of a kind pieces and our inclination for the arts. As an artist herself and a Upper Arlington resident she was drawn to the idea of one day having her own Art at Argo’s show. Well, in the past month or so we convinced her that the time was right!

Welcome Back – Impressionistic Painter, John Wilson
We are thrilled to welcome back local artist, John Wilson, to our latest Art at Argo’s exhibit. The exhibition. “Seaside Holiday”, begins September 27 and will remain on display in our Arlington showroom through January 15. John’s work was last shown at Argo & Lehne in 2017, where we came very close to a sold out show. His impressionistic paintings are ever so popular with our customers and staff. In this exhibit, he shares many paintings captured from his seaside holidays on the Cape.
Art at Argo’s “Celebrating Sunlight” paintings by Carrie & Michelle Boerio

I recently had the honor of meeting artist, Carrie Boerio in the store and we discussed her and her daughter’s artwork. Once I was able to research and view their works I was like a moth to light! The vivid colors and broad brushstrokes encapsulated in each of their individual paintings draws you in and makes you want to see more. I’m fascinated by these two women for many reasons but absolutely admire and adore their strong, collaborative approach to their art and careers while still being able to clearly define their work as individuals. There are so many similarities and approaches which result in very different and equally beautiful results. Their encouragement and support for each other is so inspiring. With the bright days of summer finally here, what better time to share these artists colorful and radiant works at Art at Argo’s, “Celebrating Sunlight”.

Art at Argo’s enthusiastically welcomes Jeanie Coy Auseon this quarter with her exhibit, Play Persistently, on display at our Upper Arlington showroom April 5 – June 5, 2021. Jeanie is an Upper Arlington resident who has been creating her entire life. However, since retirement, she has dedicated much of her time to 2D art.
Jeanie is a “process artist”, absorbed in the technique and procedures of her art. She has journeyed through surface design in multiple forms such as batik on silk, silk screening, printmaking, oil paint and cold wax, and has stretched the boundaries of each by exploring different techniques. The problem solver in her is drawn to these art forms.
In the exhibit, “Play Persistently,” she treats our visitors to a breathtaking assortment of media. The inspiration for her artwork is nature, but also the shadows or voids in the realistic view. She is intrigued by the way daylight plays off objects. She tends to avoid any recognizable subject matter as she wants viewers to interpret her works in their own way. Her abstract style draws you in, as the color, composition, mood and feeling may vary. Jeanie naturally prefers warmer colors and some have observed an Asian influence in her work, perhaps from the times she visited China and Japan. “Play & Wonder,” an example of the artist pushing her comfort zone, using blues. We invite you to explore her work, both online and in-store through June 5th, and come to your own conclusions. (more…)
Continue ReadingArt at Argo’s Presents, A Class of Their Own: Students of Michael McEwan
Through our Art at Argo’s program, we have had extremely successful exhibits by three artists that have taken studio classes by local painter, Michael McEwan. These exhibits include the works of Frances McEwan Monfort, John Wilson and Lisa Parks Godfrey. Michael McEwan is known for his powerful color combinations and subtle nuances of light. His subject matter tends to be landscapes with a nod to his Ohio roots, such as local riverscapes. You will find McEwan’s paintings available exclusively from Art Access Galleries in Bexley.
Last year, I was approached by a student of McEwan expressing interest in a collaborative exhibition of a few artists that have taken his studio classes. The exhibit seemed very alluring to us as we’ve really enjoyed the works of previous artists. Within the same year McEwan retired or perhaps has taken a pause in teaching, the verdict is not yet in. We thought it would be a great time to celebrate his impact on many local artists. So, it is with great pleasure and just in time for the holiday season that we announce our most recent Art at Argo’s exhibit, A Class of their Own: students of Michael McEwan. The exhibit consists of four artists with very different styles and a common mentor. (more…)
